In Point Pleasant, Sabosik Defeats Schroeder in Mayor's Race

The pair had sparred often during Borough Council meetings

On a night where Republicans won big across the country, Republican Robert Sabosik carried the trend locally, winning election to the mayor’s seat in the election Tuesday in Point Pleasant.

Republicans swept the available seats in both Point Pleasant and Point Pleasant Beach in their council races.

Sabosik defeated Democrat William Schroeder by a nearly 2-to-1 margin, 3,390 votes to 1,886. Schroeder had been seeking his third term as mayor and his second consecutive one (Schroeder was elected to his first term as mayor in the late 1990s but stepped away after serving that term).
