Point Pleasant School Board 2022 Election: Henry, Sullivan Lead

POINT PLEASANT, NJ — Point Pleasant voters have picked two men to join the school district's Board of Education in January, according to unofficial election results from Tuesday.

Stephen Henry, who was running on the slogan Point Pleasant Strong, and Michael Sullivan, running on the Make Students 1st slogan, have won the seats being vacated by incumbents who did not seek re-election.

The unofficial tallies have Henry as the top vote-getter with 3,346 votes and Sullivan received 3,004. John LoVerde, who ran on the slogan Teach 3Rs, received 1,505, followed by the three candidates who did not have campaign slogans: William Munn, who received 1,320; William Dikun, who received 1,313, and Heather Kertman, who received 1,272, all according to unofficial results.

The results are not official until certified by the Ocean County Clerk.

The two seats were open because Jacquelyn Wieland and Diane Peterson did not seek re-election. Their departure also means the board will have a new look because Wieland is the current board president and Peterson the vice president. Wieland had served two terms.

The other five board members are Joan Speroni, Cheryl Salway, John Florio, Larry Wiliams and Dawn Coughlan.
