Point Pleasant School Crossing Guard Retires

Marie Saporito helped ensure the safety of the Point Pleasant students for more than 20 years.

POINT PLEASANT, NJ — The Point Pleasant Police Department honored Marie Saporito, who retired last week following nearly 23 years of service as a school crossing guard.

Saporito started working as a crossing guard in November 1999, police said.

"Throughout her tenure, Marie was assigned to various crossing posts in the borough, always greeting the children with a smile," the police department said in a post on Facebook.
