Point Pleasant Set For Annual Memorial Day Ceremony

The ceremony to honor U.S. military members who died in service to the country will be held at Community Park.

POINT PLEASANT, NJ — Point Pleasant Borough will hold its annual Memorial Day ceremony on May 30 at Community Park, borough officials announced.

Point Pleasant Mayor Robert Sabosik and the Borough Council will host the ceremony at 11:30 a.m. at the park, at the corner of Bridge Avenue and Beaver Dam Road.

Memorial Day honors the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. It was originally known as Decoration Day and originated in the years following the Civil War, according to History.com. It became an official federal holiday in 1971.
