Point Pleasant Teachers Of The Year Honored

POINT PLEASANT, NJ — The Point Pleasant Board of Education honored the 2022-23 Educators of the Year at each of the district's schools at a recent meeting.

The program, which has been in existence for more than 20 years, aims to recognize teachers who have gone above and beyond in their service to students.

"Over the past two and a half years, educators changed the way they delivered instruction to New Jersey’s 1.4 million students," the information on the state Department of Education website notes. "Now, more than ever before, is the time to celebrate" those hardworking teachers.

In addition, the Point Pleasant Schools honored an educational services professional, who provides support for students beyond classroom lessons.

The Point Pleasant School District honorees:

Governor's Educator of the Year

• Ian Kearns, Point Pleasant Borough High School
• Kathryn Kuri, Nellie F. Bennett Elementary School
• Janet Magley, Ocean Road Elementary School
• Lisa Miller, Memorial Middle School

Educational Services Professional of the Year

• Catherine Murphy, Nellie F. Bennett Elementary School.
