Ramos Plans To Run As A Write-In Candidate In Point Pleasant Beach School Board Election
Board member who was appointed to fill an unexpired term last year missed the filing deadline.

POINT PLEASANT BEACH — Point Pleasant Board of Education member Michael Ramos inadvertently missed the filing date to run for a full term
So Ramos plans to run a write-in campaign to keep his seat on the school board, according to the Ocean Star.
“I misunderstood my appointment timeframe,” said Mr. Ramos, who was appointed to fill an unexpired term on the board last year. “I have every intention of continuing to serve as a member of the Point Pleasant Beach Board of Education by running as a write-in candidate in the upcoming November election,” Ramos said.

Ramos was appointed last year to fill Beth Feefe's unexpired term until the 2016 November election.
“Because of this I purposely did not file to run for the seat in the upcoming election," he said.

“When I was made aware that I needed to file a petition to run in the election this year, it was already past the July 25 deadline to file," he said. "Because of this, the only way for me to run would be as a write-in candidate, which I fully intend to do.”
Ramos serves on the district’s buildings and grounds, contract negotiation and policy committees.
“One of the primary reasons for my immediate appointment to this committee was because I was one of the few members serving on the Board of Education that did not have any ties or immediate family members that are employed in the state education system, which would preclude anyone from serving on this committee due to state ‘conflict of interest’ rules," he said.
