Robert D. Boquel, Korean War Veteran, Dies At 84

Robert D. Boquel, 84, of Point Pleasant, died peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, at Ocean Medical Center in Brick.

He was born in Bayonne, grew up in Jersey City and moved to Point Pleasant in 1969 from Jackson. Robert honorably served in the Navy during the Korean War. He worked for many years as an expediter for Western Electric in Kearny and AT&T in Piscataway.

Robert was a member of St. Peter’s R.C. Church in Point Pleasant Beach and an avid fisherman. He was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the VFW in Brick.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, Ruth (Gawronski), three daughters, and one son: Lynda Bogan of VA, Renee McCaver and her husband Michael of VA, Beth Boquel of Nashville, TN, Perry Boquel and his wife Paulette of Wall Township. He is also survived by one sister, Jeanne Carr, and her husband John of VA. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Shannon (Matthew), Kaitlyn (William), Matthew, Marci, David, Amanda, Eden, Bronson, Cali, and Gabrielle. Robert has six great-grandchildren, Luke, Rylee, Will, Lily, Laila, Raelyn and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015 at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Hwy. 88, Brick. A funeral service will be offered at 6:30 p.m. Cremation will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Foundation or the ASPCA of Brick.
