Seafood Fest 5K Seeks 'Crabbiest' Runner In Point Pleasant Beach

The 5K race offers awards for first place, last place, best dressed and crabbiest, and takes place right before the Festival of the Sea.

POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ — The Point Pleasant Beach Recreation Committee is hosting the Seafood Fest 5K on Saturday.

The race is set to begin at 8 a.m. and accepts a maximum of 400 runners. The first 200 registrants receive a T-shirt and a finisher's medal, and there is free food, drinks and entertainment.

The race immediately precedes the Festival of the Sea on Saturday, which runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. with seafood from local restaurants, hundreds of vendors and more on Arnold and Bay avenues.

The 5K offers awards for first place, last place, best dressed and the crabbiest, sponsored by Surf Taco, and "other cool prizes" are set to be given away.

Proceeds from the race benefit the Point Pleasant Beach Recreation Committee and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Registration is $40 through Friday, and the day-of registration fee is $45. Registration and check-in begin at 7 a.m. at 202 Arnold Ave. for the 8 a.m. race. Register online here.

The Point Pleasant Beach Recreation Committee also is seeking volunteers to help with the race. Help is needed from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Those interested in volunteering can email the committee at recreationcommittee@pointbeach.org.
