'Shrek The Musical' Coming To Point Pleasant High School Stage

POINT PLEASANT, NJ — The Point Pleasant High School Performing Arts Department is set to present "Shrek the Musical" at the high school.

The performances kick off with a special "backstage with the cast" program for children in first through fifth grades on Friday, March 3.

The backstage event is a "fun evening for your child to spend with the Point Pleasant Borough High School cast."

Parents get the night off, while the cast performs a special sneak peek for the kids. "They will sing, dance, and open their hearts to learn the meaning of friendship, inner beauty, and everything that has layers. It is the perfect stage adventure for any age," the school's ad for the event says.

Tickets for Friday's backstage event, which runs from 6 p.m. to 8:15 p.m., are $12 per child and can be purchased online through the BookTix site. Contact Rebecca Muraglia rmuraglia@pointpleasant.k12.nj.us for additional information.

The main performances are set for Thursday, March 9 through Sunday, March 12.

"You may think you know all there is to know about that grumpy, green ogre and his sidekicks, but prepare to be surprised," the school's ad for the musical says.

There are more songs and more dancing, and more intricate staging to tell the tale.
