Swearing-In Ceremonies, Council Reorganization Set In Point Pleasant

POINT PLEASANT, NJ — The Point Pleasant Borough Council has scheduled its 2023 reorganization meeting for Jan. 2.

The meeting is set for noon in the courtroom at Borough Hall, 2233 Bridge Ave. and will include the swearing-in ceremonies for Robert Sabosik as mayor and Charlene Archer and Joseph Furmato Jr. as council members.

Sabosik defeated Councilman William Borowsky, who challenged for the mayor's seat as an independent candidate. Sabosik received 4,982 votes to 2,863 for Borowsky, according to the official results.

Archer and Furmato were unopposed in the races for the two, three-year seats on the Borough Council. Archer was elected to her second term, and Furmato, who first won election to the council in 2013, was elected to his fourth term.

Borowsky, who was re-elected to the council in 2021, has two years remaining on his council term.

The reorganization meeting is anticipated to include the appointment of the town's professional services contracts, a temporary budget appropriation and other start-of-the-year business.
