Swearing-In Ceremony, Point Pleasant Beach Reorganization Set

POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ — The Point Pleasant Beach Borough Council will hold its reorganization meeting at noon on Jan. 2 at borough hall, as the governing body begins its business for 2023.

Douglas Vitale and Arlene Testa, who won re-election in November, will be sworn into new terms on the borough council. Vitale was the top vote-getter out of three candidates for the two council seats, receiving 1,313 votes. Testa received 1,294, and Ernest "EJ" Geiger received 645 votes. There also were 244 write-in votes.

The reorganization meeting also includes the council choosing a president. Vitale has been serving in that capacity. The meeting also typically includes appointments of various professionals to serve the borough in various capacities.

Mayor Paul Kanitra also will give remarks on the start of the year.

Borough Hall is at 416 New Jersey Ave. and the meeting is open to the public.
