USCGA Flotilla 16-07 Wins Public Education Award for Boating Safety Classes

POINT PLEASANT, NJ – U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 16-07 won the “William Ross McDonald Award” at District 5 Northern Training held in Wyomissing, PA on March 10th. This award is given to the flotilla in the district with the most points in public education for the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary in 2017.
Flotilla Commander Basil (Bill) Iwanyk was present to receive the award from District 5 Northern. Iwanyk said of the accomplishment, “This award is further testament to the hard work and dedication of the Public Education team in Flotilla 16-07 headed up by Staff Office Chris Malzone. Boating safety one of the prime missions of the United States Coast Guard and the training we provide establishes a solid foundation for recreational boating safety."


In addition to the “William Ross McDonald Award,” Flotilla 16-07 members were recognized in multiple categories for their work in 2017.
