Water Disinfectant Change Coming To Point Pleasant, Bay Head

New Jersey American Water is making a temporary change in its disinfectant, part of routine annual maintenance.

POINT PLEASANT, NJ — Some residents of Point Pleasant and Bay Head may notice a change in their water starting Feb. 16 as New Jersey American Water performs annual routine maintenance on its system, the company said.

The company will shift from using chloramine to free chlorine at its Swimming River Water Treatment Plant in Colts Neck and its Jumping Brook Water Treatment Plant in Neptune as its disinfectant, New Jersey American Water said.

Some people may notice a slight taste and smell of chlorine in their water during the change, the company said.
