WaterAlert Gives Point Pleasant Residents Early Flood Warning

Sign up for text and email alerts through US Geological Survey system.

Having early warning of an impending flood can make the difference in how much damage someone suffers to their home and property.

Now residents of Point Pleasant and Point Pleasant Beach have an opportunity to get an early warning on potential flooding from the U.S. Geological Survey, as noted by the Point Pleasant Office of Emergency Management.

The USGS has set up a WaterAlert system, where users can input their cell phone number and email address to get real-time warnings when a stream is approaching flood stage.

The USGS has gauges at the Point Pleasant Canal near Bridge Avenue, as well as at the Glimmer Glass Bridge near Watson Creek in Manasquan -- which feeds into the Manasquan River -- and two in Barnegat Bay near the Mantoloking Bridge.
