Who Killed Gabrielle Mueller? Cold Case Still Open

Authorities still looking for killer of young Toms River mother, 15 years after she was found strangled in Lakewood.

Gabrielle Mueller was last seen alive during the evening hours of Sunday, April 1, 2001.

The Toms River resident was reported missing the following day. That morning, the search for the mother of two came to a grim end, according to a spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.

She was found strangled in a wooded area of Salem Street in Lakewood, close to the Lakewood Industrial Park, said Al Della Fave

Her blue Toyota Corolla was located in Lakewood the day after her body was discovered. An autopsy revealed that the she died as a result of strangulation and her death was ruled a homicide, he said.

"To date though OCPO and OC Law Enforcement have not developed any significant clues pointing to the individual(s) responsible for her death, we will never stop seeking justice for Gabrielle and her loved ones," Della Fave said. "The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Cold Case Unit investigators serve as advocates for victims in unsolved cases, regardless of how much time has passed, working to bring peace to the loved ones of an individual who was senselessly killed or is missing."
