Woman, 73, Charged With Assault At Point Beach DWI Checkpoint: Police
The Brick woman was one of 4 people arrested during the sobriety checkpoint over the weekend, Point Pleasant Beach police said.
POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ — A 73-year-old Brick Township woman was charged with aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer during a sobriety checkpoint on Saturday, Point Pleasant Beach police said Wednesday.
The woman was one of four people arrested during the checkpoint, which was conducted for four hours Saturday night into Sunday last weekend, police said.
The checkpoint, on Route 35 south, screened about 650 drivers, police said.

The arrests were:
- A 49-year-old woman from Landing, New Jersey, was charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving;
- A 50-year-old man from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, was charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving;
- A 74-year-old man from Brick was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and refusal to submit to a breath test;
- A 73-year-old woman from Brick was charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest, police said.
Point Pleasant Beach police said all four were released with summonses and court dates in Point Pleasant Beach municipal court.

The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and the Point Pleasant Borough Police Department assisted with the checkpoint, police said.
