Work Completed On Failing Point Pleasant Beach Bridge
Restrictions are no longer in place.

Restrictions are no longer in place now that work on the failing Broadway bridge in Point Pleasant Beach has been completed, Mayor Stephen Reid said.
The bridge had been closed to all traffic that's over 3 tons, police said. Vehicles over 3 tons had to seek alternate routes until the repairs were completed.
Traffic on the Richard E. Lane Bridge on Broadway was also reduced to one lane, officials said, while emergency repairs were underway to repair the span’s 21 deteriorating timber pilings.

Repairs to the bridge began last month and were completed by Oct. 2, Reid said. Primary repairs took roughly a month to complete. The bridge crosses Cooks Creek.
The repairs were expected to cost about $300,000, officials said.

The four-lane bridge, which is about 130 feet in length, was last fixed in 1983. A plaque at the center of the span shows that the bridge was named in 2000 for Richard E. Lane, a former longtime county engineer.
