2 Bus Stops Being Added, 1 Stop Relocated In Princeton

PRINCETON, NJ — Two New Jersey Transit bus stops are being added on Bunn Drive, and one stop is being relocated on Ewing Street in Princeton.

The Mayor and Council approved an ordinance at the Monday meeting with the bus stop changes.

The changes followed residents' requests for the Bunn Drive additions, and New Jersey Transit agreed to them.

The new stops will be placed at and across from the entrance to Copperwood at Princeton.

Riders from Copperwood currently walk to the nearest stop at Karl Light Boulevard at Princeton Community Village, a distance of about 700 feet along a shared-use path on the east side of Bunn Drive.

The ordinance states the municipality received a request from New Jersey Transit to add bus stops on Bunn Drive in both directions to serve passengers from Copperwood in Princeton, Princeton Community Village and other nearby residents.

One will be on Bunn Drive northbound, on the easterly side between North Harrison Street and Karl Light Boulevard, beginning 494 feet south of the southerly curbline of Karl Light Boulevard and extending 135 feet southerly therefrom.

The second will be on Bunn Drive southbound, on the westerly side between McComb Road and North Harrison Street, beginning 827 feet south of the southerly curbline of McComb Road and extending 135 feet southerly therefrom.

The Ewing Street change will move a southbound stop now located about 150 feet south of the Mount Lucas Road intersection.

The ordinance materials state that the current waiting area is a vegetated strip of land between the roadway and a wall, where it is unsafe for bus passengers to wait.

The relocation request was made by Princeton Police, and New Jersey Transit recommended moving the stop farther southeast across from the entrance to Princeton Professional Park at 601 Ewing Street, because it provides a less obstructed and safer waiting area.
