2 Forums On Princeton Bond Referendum This Week

Forums are set for Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

PRINCETON, NJ — Two events are planned for this week for Princeton school officials to discuss a proposed facilities referendum. Discussions will take place on Wednesday night, Jan. 10, 7 p.m.; and on Thursday morning, Jan. 11, 9:30 a.m. Both forums will take place in the John Witherspoon Middle School Auditorium.

“The discussion will explore why we need to expand our facilities, what that expansion might include, how the expansion would be designed and funded, and when the vote by the community would take place,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Steve Cochrane wrote in a message on the school district’s website announcing the event. “This referendum will be an investment in our children and in our future. I hope you will join me at one of the sessions listed below to learn more about our plans and to share your thoughts and suggestions.”

The vote is targeted for the first Tuesday in October and addresses escalating enrollment, according to the Princeton Packet. The Princeton Public School District, which had 3,769 students last year, is forecast to have in excess of 5,000 students in the next few years.
