2nd Death At Princeton Care Center, 3 More Test Positive

A 90-plus year old man died and three more PCC patients have tested positive for the new coronavirus.

PRINCETON, NJ — Princeton's third overall death and the second of a Princeton Care Center (PCC) resident related to the new coronavirus was announced on Monday.

A 90-plus year old man died and three more PCC patients have tested positive for COVID-19 for a total of five, Princeton Mayor Liz Lempert announced.

Patients who have tested positive or have symptoms are being isolated in a separate wing of PCC. All residents and staff at PCC are being monitored.

The Princeton Health Department is also working with the senior living facility to have all staff tested for COVID-19 and are continuing to reinforce the facility’s universal masking policy. Additionally, all staff with existing exposure to confirmed coronavirus patients have been placed on quarantine.

"Princeton extends our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the patient, as well as all who have been affected by this outbreak. We continue to strongly recommend that all Princeton residents, workers, students and visitors take the necessary precautions to protect themselves against novel coronavirus," Lempert said.

Princeton has 62 total confirmed coronavirus cases as of Monday. The Princeton Health Department is currently monitoring 35 active cases that are in isolation, 24 cases have recovered.

COVID-19 is caused by a member of the coronavirus family that’s a close cousin to the SARS and MERS viruses that have caused outbreaks in the past.
