PRINCETON, NJ — Littlebrook Elementary School Principal Luis Ramirez has submitted his letter of retirement, effective Sept. 1, 2026, Princeton Public Schools officials announced.
Ramirez will have completed nine years with the district upon his retirement, according to the board meeting agenda.
Superintendent Mike LaSusa said he and Ramirez discovered a shared background during their time working together. "Luis and I found out we share a common bond, that we both began our careers as teachers in middle schools in Philadelphia, probably less than a mile apart from one another," LaSusa said during the April 14 board meeting.
"I've enjoyed working with him this year and wish him all the best in his next phase of life."
The district has already moved to fill the position. The posting closed Friday after drawing 47 applicants, LaSusa said. He and another administrator have scheduled approximately 20 candidates for initial screening interviews this week and next.
A slate of finalists will meet with an interview committee on Friday, May 1, LaSusa said, putting the district on track to recommend an appointment at the May 19 board meeting.
The interview committee will include administrative staff, several Littlebrook faculty members, three teachers, and an alum — about 10 people total, according to LaSusa.
