PRINCETON, NJ — A Lyft driver has been charged with luring and harassment after he approached two Princeton University students on consecutive days last month, the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office said Tuesday.
Dimario Wynter, 28, of Spotswood faces two counts of third-degree luring and two counts of harassment. He is also charged with a disorderly persons offense for attempting to solicit a sexual act from one of the victims.
In the first incident, on April 16, a Princeton University student reported she was walking on Prospect Avenue around noon when a man driving a vehicle stopped and asked her for directions. The driver then handed her a $100 bill, exited the vehicle, approached her and demanded a sexual act, Mercer Prosecutor Janetta D. Marbrey said. The student dropped the money and fled. Investigators identified the vehicle as a black Jeep Patriot.
The following day, April 17, a second Princeton University student reported she was on Ivy Lane around 9:30 a.m. when a man driving a dark van or SUV stopped and asked her for directions. He handed her a $100 bill and asked her to leave with him. The student returned the money and the suspect drove away.
An investigation by Princeton University Department of Public Safety Detective Martin Krzywicki identified Wynter as a rideshare driver for Lyft.
Wynter was arrested April 30 at the Princeton Police Department and released pending future court appearances.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Mercer County Prosecutor's Sgt. Ed Hughes at 609-989-6441. Anonymous tips can be submitted at mercercountyprosecutor.com.
