Polls in New Jersey have closed, and election results are beginning to stream in.
This year, 13 Democrats were seeking the nomination to represent New Jersey's 12th Congressional District.
The Associated Press has called the race, with Dr. Adam Hamawy beating out his 12 opponents.
Dr. Adam Hamawy is a surgeon, Army veteran, and small business owner whose campaign slogan is “Healthcare, Not Bombs.” His campaign highlights his military service as a combat trauma surgeon and his focus on healthcare affordability, economic inequality, and progressive reform.
Hamawy will face Republican Gregg Mele in November, who is running unopposed for the GOP nomination in this race.
