Princeton To Celebrate Juneteenth With Concert & Exhibit

The Princeton Symphony Orchestra presents a talk on jazz and the Civil Rights Movement, followed by a Great Ladies of Jazz concert.

PRINCETON, NJ — The Municipality of Princeton will mark Juneteenth with a full afternoon and evening of free public programming Friday.

Municipal offices will be closed Friday, in recognition of the federal holiday.

The commemoration on Friday will take place at Morven Museum & Garden's Stockton Education Center, where the Princeton Symphony Orchestra is presenting a free exhibit honoring Harriet Powers, described as a revolutionary quilter, from 2 to 5:30 p.m.

At 5:30 p.m., Dr. Rochelle Ellis will present a talk on jazz and the Civil Rights Movement, also free and open to the public.

The evening concludes with a concert, "Great Ladies of Jazz," at 7 p.m. at Morven's Performance Pavilion.
