PRINCETON, NJ — Princeton's Mayor and Council will hold a virtual meeting Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. that includes both a public resolution and a closed session addressing confidential legal matters, according to the meeting agenda.

The meeting opens with a land acknowledgment recognizing the Lenni Lenape as original caretakers of the area, followed by a public resolution granting the Princeton Community Democratic Organization permission to bring alcoholic beverages for personal consumption to its annual summer picnic. The event is scheduled for July 12 at Grover Park from 4 to 7 p.m., under a municipal code provision allowing the council to authorize alcohol use in public parks.

Following public comment, the council will vote to enter closed session under the Open Public Meetings Act to discuss two confidential matters.

The first involves legal advice regarding the potential conveyance or lease of municipally owned property for affordable housing or supportive services purposes. The agenda does not specify which property is under consideration.

The second concerns an update on Princeton's ongoing insurance coverage litigation against ACE American in U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, involving a property at 298 River Road. Details of the case remain under seal during the litigation.

Officials said matters discussed in closed session will be made public once confidentiality is no longer required.

Residents can join the meeting via Zoom, with instructions for raising hands to comment provided in the agenda. In-person attendees may sign up to speak using the podium sign-up sheet.
