PRINCETON, NJ — Gov. Mikie Sherrill announced Friday that her family has completed its move into Drumthwacket, the official governor's residence in Princeton.

"This week, our family completed our move to Drumthwacket, and we are thrilled to call it home," Sherrill said.

Sherrill described the historic property as more than a residence. "Drumthwacket is more than the Governor's residence — it is 'The People's House,'" she said. "We're excited to bring it to life with our family, open its doors to New Jerseyans, and share the rich history and heritage that make this place so special."

The governor said the move places her family closer to the seat of state government. "I've always said I will be a Governor for all of New Jersey, and living here puts us at the heart of our state — closer to the State House, the Capital City, and the important work we came here to do for every New Jerseyan," she said.

Sherrill's family previously lived in Montclair, in Essex County, for 16 years. "Montclair and Essex County have been a beloved home for us and will always hold a special place in our hearts," she said. "They are where we grew our family and raised our children for the past 16 years, surrounded by a community we will miss deeply."

Sherrill credited state employees and the Drumthwacket Foundation with assisting the transition. "We're incredibly grateful to the dedicated state employees and the Drumthwacket Foundation who helped make this transition possible," she said.
