The following is a summary of incidents as reported by Princeton Police:
On Sept.17, at 2:31 p.m., Princeton Police responded to the Princeton Public Library for a reported theft. Investigation determined that the suspect created a library card and subsequently checked out 31 video games, which were not returned by their respective due dates. The library reported replacement costs and processing fees totaling approximately $2,019. Further investigation revealed that the suspect provided an address where the homeowner confirmed the suspect had never resided. Attempts to contact the suspect were unsuccessful, and the library wished to pursue criminal charges if the property was not returned.
On Sept.17, at 10:28 p.m., Police responded to a residence on Hutchinson Drive for a reported theft from a residential mailbox. Investigation determined that two retirement account checks totaling $23,108.87, two replacement retirement account checks totaling $23,108.87, and a replacement Social Security card were reported missing from the victim's mail deliveries on Aug. 15, Sept. 5, and Sept. 8. The victim confirmed the expected mail through USPS Informed Delivery notifications. No suspects have been identified at this time.
On Sept.19, 10:35 a.m., Police responded to a residence on Westcott Road for a reported theft of jewelry that occurred on Sept.18 while a moving company was relocating furniture inside the home. The victim reported that multiple pieces of jewelry, including gold Cartier and Chopard items, were missing, with a total estimated value of approximately $25,207. The victim suspected an employee of the moving company was involved. The investigation remains ongoing.
On Sept. 21, 7:16 p.m., police responded to a home on Riverside Drive for a reported theft of two signs and a metal pole from the end of the victims' driveway. The items, valued at approximately $90 total, were last observed on Sept. 20 and discovered missing on Sept. 21. Police canvassed the area for surveillance footage but were unable to locate any of evidentiary value. No suspects were identified.
On Sept. 21, 4:15 p.m., police took a report of criminal mischief involving a vehicle parked on Franklin Avenue. The victim reported that all of the vehicle's windows were shattered and the driver's side door was damaged, with rocks believed to have been used to cause the damage. The estimated cost of repairs was approximately $3,000. The investigation remains ongoing.
