PRINCETON, NJ — Walking or driving on Nassau Street this week? Princeton police want a word, and they're bringing coffee.
The Princeton Police Department's Community Relations Bureau will host a pedestrian safety event from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, on the sidewalk in front of Tiger Park, at Nassau Street and Palmer Square.
The event marks National Pedestrian Safety Month, which runs through October. Residents can stop by, meet local officers and pick up Street Smart NJ materials with simple tips for getting around town safely, police said.
Police are asking pedestrians to put their phones away and cross at crosswalks. Drivers have a job, too.
"Drivers, New Jersey law requires you to stop and stay stopped for pedestrians in a marked crosswalk," the department said in its announcement. "Small habits on both sides of the curb are what keep our neighbors safe on Nassau Street."
Police will be joined by:
