Another Heatwave Coming This Week, 100-Degree Heat Index Possible In New Jersey
The 100-degree heat index could come with thunderstorms Wednesday and Thursday, forecasters predict.

Another heatwave is on the way this week.
According to forecasters with the National Weather Service, heat index values could get up to 100 degrees on Thursday and Friday.
The extreme heat, while uncomfortable for those outdoors, isn't likely to break too many records, AccuWeather predicts.

"Despite the upcoming heat, very few places will challenge record highs, since many record temperatures are in the upper 90s to low 100s this time of the year," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski said.
During the heatwave, expect the possibility of spotty thunderstorms to develop along with the blistering temperatures. "The storms will be most common during the afternoon and evening hours," AccuWeather says.

The NWS predicts the most likely days for thunderstorms are Wednesday and Thursday.
Residents should take the necessary precautions to avoid a heat-related illness, forecasters warn. Children and pets should never be left in the car, even for a short time.
A cold front will arrive on Friday, forecasters say. Weekend temperatures will dip down to the upper 80s.
