Anyone Else Still Here Post-Rapture?
Or am I the only one who didn't get swept up in the end of the world?

Well, it’s past 6 p.m. now and not much has changed. At least not as far as I can see, hear or read about online.
While some people — like Christian radio broadcaster and doomsday predictor Harold Camping — were supposed to be watching the clock in rapt (forgive me) attention, I didn’t even notice it was past the until I heard a newscaster on the TV in the other room.
Some of Camping’s followers reportedly quit their jobs, spent their life savings and cut off personal relationshipsin order to warn their fellow humans that the second coming of Christ was to occur today, taking the purest of heart to heaven and leaving the rest of us to fight it out amid disasters on a scale so far unseen on earth.

I can’t help but feel bad for those people, even if I can’t imagine how they came to make those decisions. Their actions are particularly hard to fathom given that Camping had predicted Armageddon before, in 1994. (Though some might say the release of a live-action Flintstones movie hit a little too close to home.)
But I also can’t prove the true believers weren’t vaporized, carried off into the clouds, or anything else, since I was taking a post-haircut shower at 6 p.m. (Heaven or doomed earth, you’ve still gotta look your best!)

So tell me, dear readers, is anyone else still here? Are we in the start of something out of a novel series, or will we have to wait until 2012?
