Arts Council of Princeton Receives Favorite Art Gallery Award

The Arts Council of Princeton's Taplin Gallery has been named Favorite Art Gallery in the 2016 JerseyArts.com People's Choice Awards.

The Arts Council of Princeton’s Taplin Gallery has been named Favorite Art Gallery in the 2016 JerseyArts.com People’s Choice Awards.

The Awards, which take place annually to honor the work of New Jersey’s vital, vibrant and diverse arts community, saw more than 21,000 ballots cast statewide – the greatest number of votes since its inception in 2008.

The Arts Council of Princeton was amongst more than 110 arts organizations and downtown districts nominated for the Awards in 16 categories.

“We are very pleased to once again be voted Favorite Art Gallery”, said Jeff Nathanson, Executive Director of the Arts Council of Princeton. “This award reflects the positive impact the Arts Council has on our community, and we are very grateful for the support of those who voted for both our Exhibition and Education programs.”

The Arts Council came in second place for “Favorite Place to Take an Adult Arts Class.”

The Arts Council of Princeton garnered 2,224 votes and was honored on Friday, March 4 at the New Jersey Conference on Tourism at the Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City.

“All of the nominees in the 2016 People’s Choice Awards should be very proud of the work they’re doing to bolster arts and culture in our state,” said Adam Perle, President & CEO of ArtPride New Jersey, the state arts service organization that coordinates the annual awards. “To be nominated by one’s peers is to wear a badge of honor that signifies ‘great art happens here.’ With more than 100 truly outstanding nominees, it’s easy to see how much exceptional art takes place right here in New Jersey.”

The JerseyArts.com People’s Choice Awards are coordinated through the Discover Jersey Arts program, a cosponsored project of the ArtPride New Jersey Foundation and New Jersey State Council on the Arts aimed at increasing the awareness of and participation in the arts.
