Event: Alex Berenson on Marijuana, Mental Illness, and Violence

Author event and book signing on January 31 at The Wilberforce School

Award-winning New York Times journalist and novelist Alex Berenson is coming to Princeton on January 31, 2019, for a special author event hosted by The Wilberforce School.

Berenson will be speaking about his latest book, Tell Your Children: The Truth About Marijuana, Mental Illness, and Violence (out on January 8; available for purchase at this author event and book signing). In it, Berenson explores the evidence linking cannabis to psychosis, schizophrenia, and violence. As reported in Mother Jones earlier this month, Berenson “makes a convincing case that a recreational drug marketed as an all-around health product may, in fact, be really dangerous—especially for people with a family history of mental illness and for adolescents with developing brains.”

Berenson’s book comes at a time when more and more states, including New Jersey, are considering the question of legalizing marijuana. The evidence he presents raises serious questions about just how problematic marijuana use may be.
