Vegetable Patch: 20 Ways to Enjoy Jersey Corn on the Cob

If you're a traditionalist, butter and salt is the way to go. If you're feeling adventuresome, try something new on your Jersey corn.

  • Shuck corn and boil in water for 5 plus-or-minus 2 minutes.  Drain and eat “naked,” or put butter and salt on if you must.

  • You can also microwave corn-on-the-cob.  Wrap in plastic wrap or put in a glass dish and cover.  I do about 2 minutes on high per ear, but some people like to cook it longer.

  • Shuck corn, season with olive oil, lime, salt and pepper, wrap in aluminum foil and grill, turning occasionally, for 10-15 minutes.  Or forget the aluminum foil and put it right onto the grill if you like your corn nut-brown—that’s for 7-10 minutes.

  • Another grill-roasted corn recipe uses mayonnaise, parmesan and chili powder.  You can also boil or roast corn, slather on mayonnaise and roll it in a mixture of parmesan and chili powder.
