Budget Vote Postponed Until May 9 in Princeton
Council is still considering at least $150,000 in additional cuts.

Princeton, NJ -- Princeton Council put off a decision on this year’s proposed budget until the May 9 meeting as further cuts are considered, the Princeton Packet reports.
The proposed $61.9 million budget includes a tax increase of 48 cents per $100 of assessed property value. The owner of an average home assessed at $810,000 would pay $3,900 in municipal property taxes next year, an increase of $129.
At least about $150,000 more must be cut from the budget to avoid a further tax increase, according to the report.

However, council can’t come to a consensus on where cuts should be made, according to Planet Princeton.
Areas under consideration include the library and Access Princeton, and some have suggested a 1 percent cut across the board for all departments. Township Administrator Marc Dashields opposes that idea, according to the report.
