Go beyond the Declaration’s famous opening statement and get to understand the heart of the document—27 specific grievances leveled against King George III and British officials, viewed as “tyrants and rogues” by the Continental Congress. For the final program in their Generation Declaration series, Morven presents a virtual talk by Organization of American Historians Distinguished Lecturer Robert G. Parkinson, Professor of History at Binghamton University.

Parkinson explores the reasons why the thirteen American colonies believed they had to leave the British Empire. This is a fully virtual program. Registration is free for students.
