2 Women From Italy Hospitalized After Accident Near Palmer Square: Police
One woman was seriously injured. They were attending a conference at Princeton University.
Princeton, NJ -- Two women from Italy were hospitalized after being hit by a car on Nassau Street near Palmer Square around 8:05 a.m. Thursday morning, Princeton Police said.
Iolanda Del Prete, 30, and Donatella De Silva, 26, both of Italy, were crossing Nassau Street heading north from the Princeton University side of the street to the business side of the street, police said Thursday afternoon.
Naila A. Sheikh, 52, of Lawrenceville, was driving a gray 2012 Acura RDX east on Nassau Street when she struck both women with the front end of her car.

Police believe both women were in the marked crosswalk when they were hit.
Del Prete was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center for serious injuries. De Silva was transported to the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro for minor injuries. She has since been released.

Both De Silva and Del Prete were attending a conference at Princeton University, police said.
The crash remains under investigation. No summonses had been issued as of Thursday afternoon.
