10th Anniversary of Consolidation
Princeton will be commemorating the 10th anniversary of the consolidation that united Princeton Borough and Princeton Township on Thursday, Sept. 28, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at 400 Witherspoon Street.
Program highlights include Councilwoman Michelle Pirone Lambros and Mayor Mark Freda, who will reflect on the journey and progress as one Princeton, and Senator Andrew Zwicker, who will give remarks on the benefits of consolidation.
There will be music and treats from local vendors following the proceedings.
Construction Work
- S. Brothers will continue working on the east side of Witherspoon Street constructing curb and sidewalk. Traffic will alternate in one lane through the construction area between Franklin Avenue and Green Street.
- John Street Alley will be closed to through traffic Monday, Sept. 25 through Friday, Sept. 29. A new raised concrete crosswalk is being constructed at Hulfish Street. Vehicles cannot cross over this crosswalk until the concrete has cured.
- The Spring Street Garage concrete repairs are continuing. Up to 100 spaces will be unavailable for parking on the upper levels.
- PSE&G’s contractor, Waters & Bugbee, will work on gas main replacements on Wescott Road, Library Place, and Cleveland Lane. New services connections will be installed on Dempsey Avenue and Cuyler Road. A crew will be installing a new gas main on Laurel Road and Mt. Lucas Road, as well. These roads will be closed at times, and detours will be in place.
- The Alice development is in full swing and construction vehicles are to be expected on Terhune Road and North Harrison Street.
- The Graduate Hotel construction continues. Chambers Street has no scheduled closures but may be shut down for short periods of time for the loading and unloading of construction materials and equipment.
- Stuart Road is scheduled for resurfacing.
- The NJDOT replacement of the Washington Road bridge over the D&R Canal will continue to keep the road closed for the rest of the month.
