Diverse Educators Focus Of Princeton Recruitment Efforts

The district hosted a Diverse Educators Recruitment Day on Monday.

PRINCETON, NJ — In an effort to build a diverse staff that is reflective of the community, the Princeton Public School District hosted a Diverse Educators Recruitment Day on Monday. The event was for general education teachers, administrators, special education teachers, and other education professionals, the district said on Wednesday. The event drew 94 applicants, many with strong backgrounds in education.

“We know how important it is for students to see individuals who look like them in leadership positions in their classrooms and schools,” Superintendent Steve Cochrane said. “We also know that the more diversity we have among our educators, the better our schools will be for all students.”

"It was great to see the quality and number of prospective teachers and administrators who turned out for the job fair,” Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Lew Goldstein said. “Our efforts to recruit and retain additional educators of color will be ongoing as we work to reflect our student and community profile now and in the years to come.”

“Princeton Public Schools will also continue to participate with 17 other school districts in the CJPRIDE (Central Jersey Program for Recruitment of Diverse Educators) job fair in March of each year,” the school district said. “Princeton Public Schools would like to thank its community partners for supporting the district in its efforts to hire more diverse staff and for helping to spread the word about the Diverse Educators Recruitment Day.”
