Duff & Phelps Charitable Fdn. Supports Personal Finance Education

Duff & Phelps Charitable Foundation Supports DoughMain Financial Literacy Foundation's FitKit Personal Finance Program For NJ Students

Princeton, NJ, December 2018, – DoughMain Financial Literacy Foundation would like to recognize Duff & Phelps Charitable Foundation for their generous donation in support of the foundation’s efforts to prepare today’s students for a lifetime of financial responsibility through engaging financial literacy education programs delivered free to schools and communities.

Their donation will serve to support the foundation’s signature curriculum known as The FitKit H.S. Youth Personal Finance Program, aimed at educating high school students about personal finance. The FitKit, which is gaining recognition in NJ and PA, has been used by more than 5,750 students in select New Jersey and Pennsylvania schools. Although New Jersey and thirty-six other states have included financial literacy education in K-12 standards, only seventeen require a high school course be taken, and only 7 require testing to measure students’ knowledge, The FitKit is an innovative turn-key approach that focuses on building skills specifically related to personal finance. The curriculum includes teach-the-teacher components, cues and background information, pre and post assessments, standards-mapped unit and lesson plans, PowerPoint presentations, innovative peer-to-peer videos, student background information, study guides and content that truly empowers and engages students.

“We truly appreciate the support of Duff & Phelps Community Foundation, and the commitment of their leadership staff and employees,” said Robert M. Church, executive director of DoughMain Financial Literacy Foundation. “It will help the foundation tremendously as we continue in our efforts to close the financial literacy gap for underserved populations in our country and build stronger communities, one student, one classroom, and one school at a time.”

“We understand the important need for financial literacy education in our schools, and the important role that personal finance plays in making our families and communities stronger. We are pleased to have the opportunity to support this innovative program that truly meets the needs of students, schools and communities,” said Marty Dauer, Spokesperson for the Duff & Phelps Charitable Foundation. “This is a great opportunity to work with New Jersey communities not only by providing options through our work, but also to help support financially responsible decision-making practices.”
