Elections 2016: Who's Running for Local Office in Princeton?

The deadline to file petitions to run in this year's primaries was 4 p.m. Monday afternoon.

Princeton, NJ -- No Republicans are running for council in Princeton this year.

The deadline to file a petition to run in this year’s primaries in the state of New Jersey passed at 4 p.m. on Monday, and no Republicans filed to run. However, there is a Republican candidate for mayor, and there will be contested primary for Democratic council.

Princeton Councilwoman Jenny Crumiller and candidates Tim Quinn, Letitia Fraga and Anne Neumann are running for the Democratic Party’s nominations in the November elections for two council seats.

Crumiller and Councilman Patrick Simon are both up for re-election, but Simon didn’t file a petition by Monday’s deadline.

While Mayor Liz Lempert will run uncontested in the June 7 primary, she will face a challenge from the Republicans in the Nov. 8 election. Peter Marks filed his petition to run by the Monday deadline.
