The Jake McCandless '51 PVC Speaker Series is proud to present athlete, activist and author, John Carlos to Princeton at Dodds Auditorium inside Robertson Hall at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, May 2nd!
Carlos, an Olympic and Pan-American Games medal winner and NCAA Champion track & field athlete, made waves across the world when he and fellow American Tommie Smith raised their black-gloved fists on the medal stand at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City. Although Carlos received death threats for his actions, they also made him an icon for future generations.
The lecture, which is co-sponsored by the Princeton Varsity Club, Princeton's Program in American Studies and Center for African-American Studies, is free and open to the public!
