at Princeton: Children and Adult Activities and Performance of Addison’s Cato

Battlefield Society is offering a unique weekend of children and adult
activities coupled with a performance of Joseph Addison’s Cato in the
evening, presented by the Princeton Shakespeare Company. Battlefield
Tours (10AM, NOON & 2PM), Children’s Scavenger Hunt (11AM), Clarke House
Volunteers Cooking Demonstration (12NOON), Challenging Horseshoe Games for
Prizes (1PM), Soldiers of the Battle (2PM), and Children’s Enlistment and
Drilling (3PM). Starting at 4PM – across
Mercer Street at the Colonnade (the columns) – Colonial Music by THE
PRACTITIONERS OF MUSICK, 5PM – the play “Cato” by Joseph Addison, George
Washington’s favorite play – was performed for the Continental Army at Valley
Forge, the winter after the Battle of Princeton. The Princeton Shakespeare
Company is a Princeton University student-run theater group. Written in 1712, the play involves love,
conspiracy and tragedy as the forces of Cato await the arrival of Caesar and
his army (running time 90 MIN). Ghost
