Wildflowers & Weeds in Winter - Hike and Drawing Workshop

This exciting workshop will introduce adults and older teens (16yo+) to an illuminating look at last season's wildflowers.  We begin with a brisk 2-hour morning walk on the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Reserve trails with Jeff Hoagland, SBMWA Education Director.  Jeff will help you discover a wide variety of plants, sharing their natural history while offering identification tips.  Participants will collect specimens for later use in the studio.  After a brown-bag lunch, Ruth Councell, Arts Council of Princeton Botanical Illustrator, will lead participants in a drawing and sketching workshop that includes topics such as tonal value, light on form and composition.  Techniques for achieving various textures will be covered, with ample one-on-one support between instructor and student.  Participants register directly with Arts Council of Princeton.  Participants should come dressed for wintery weather on the trails and bring lunch, hot beverages provided.    Snowdate is February 11, 2012.
