'Fancy Women Bike Ride' Comes To Princeton This Sunday
The ride encourages female bike riders to parade on their bikes through the streets while wearing fancy clothes.
PRINCETON, NJ — The Municipality's first-ever "Fancy Women Bike Ride" is scheduled to take place this Sunday in Princeton.
Organizers plan to gather at Palmer Square, 2 p.m., and ride a 15-20 minute loop. The ride is open to anyone who's interested. Participants should dress festively, decorate their bikes, and "ride around town in the spirit of friendship."
The "Fancy Women Bike Ride" began as a small event in Izmir, Turkey in 2013. Since then it has grown. Held annually in over 50 cities in Turkey and 120 cities around the world, the bike ride increases the visibility of female bicycle users, encouraging them to parade on their bikes through the streets while wearing fancy clothes.
