First Day Of School, Construction Update: Princeton This Week

PRINCETON, NJ — Good morning, neighbors. Here's what's happening in Princeton this week:

First Day Of School

Students from Princeton Public Schools will be heading back to classrooms Tuesday after their summer break. Students from Princeton High School will now have a new principal in Cecilia Birgewho was appointed last Thursday. To find the 2023-24 school calendar click here.

Planning Board

The Municipality's Planning Board will be meeting on Thursday and there's a lot on the agenda. For details click here.

Construction Work

Here's the construction work taking place around town this week:

• The Witherspoon Street Improvements Project will continue with storm sewer and sidewalk construction. Traffic will alternate in one lane through the construction area between Leigh Avenue and Green Street.
• PSE&G’s contractor, Waters & Bugbee, continues to work on gas main replacements on Moore, Valley, and Jefferson. Some roads will be closed and detours will be in place.
• Terhune Road will continue to be reduced to one lane of alternating traffic for storm sewer installation. Complete closures may occur when trenches across the road are being dug.
• Chambers Street will be subject to periodic closures for delivery of materials and for PSE&G to install transformers in underground vaults for the hotel. Some closures may be for full day.
