Gov. Chris Christie has nominated former New Jersey Department of Transportation Commissioner James S. Simpson for appointment to the Kean University Board of Trustees as a public member.
Simpson moved to Princeton in 2010 when he became Commissioner for the NJDOT, according to philly.com.
Simpson stepped down from that position in June, after overseeing the launch of the Pulaski Skyway rehabilitation project, planning for the Super Bowl and changes in NJ Transit management, according to northjersey.com.

At the time, he said he resigned for financial reasons. His resignation came when NJDOT was in transition and the state faced a $620 million short heading into the final year of Christie’s five-year $8 billion transportation budget, according to the report.
The Governor’s nominations are subject to the advice and consent of the State Senate.
