Fugitive From Mercer County Arrested In Newark: Police

Daquan Grimsley and a juvenile girl were arrested with marijuana in a hotel room on Friday, according to the sheriff's office.

A fugitive from Mercer County was arrested in a Newark hotel room early Friday morning, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office announced on Monday. Daquan Grimsley, 19, of Trenton, and a juvenile girl were arrested by members of the Mercer County Sheriff s Office and the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force at a hotel room on the 800 block of Broad Street in Newark.

Grimsley was wanted on active warrants by the Trenton Police Department, charging him with unlawful possession of weapon, possession of a high-capacity magazine, aggravated assault on police, resisting arrest, possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, and related offenses stemming from an incident that occurred earlier this month.

Grimsley and the unidentified girl were in possession of a small quantity of marijuana when they were arrested, according to the sheriff’s office. They were subsequently charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams.

“Our work with the US Marshals Service allows us to successfully locate and capture dangerous fugitives any place they hide,” Mercer County Sheriff Jack Kemler said.

Grimsley was turned over to the Trenton Police Department on the warrants. The girl was released, pending a family court appearance at later date.
