German Language School Opens Princeton Campus
Former US Ambassador Phil Murphy to Speak, Award-Winner German A Cappella Quintet Vocaldente to Perform at Sept. 28th Ribbon-Cutting.
Eaten a bratwurst at a barbecue? Bought a sandwich at a deli? Attended kindergarten? Owned a dachshund? Well, then you already speak some German. With more than 3,000 words in English derived directly from German, fluent German speakers are sought after in the global economy, where more than 100 million people communicate in German every day.
Beginning October 2015, students who want to learn German and stand out among their peers can attend weekly, small group classes from the German Language School (www.njlearnsgerman.org) at its new satellite location hosted by The Princeton Theological Seminary, 64 Mercer Street, Princeton, NJ.
The School will officially open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony September 28, 2015 in Gambrell Room, Scheide Hall from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. that will include a presentation on language and the 21st century global community by former US Ambassador to Germany and NJ resident Phil Murphy, and a performance by award-winning German a cappella quintet Vocaldente, follow by light refreshments.

“We’re finding families are interested in exploring German as a preferred second language to differentiate themselves when applying for college, while exposing their children to another culture and perhaps even reconnecting with family who live abroad,” notes German Language School Principal Michaela Greco. “Families in the Princeton area have asked for classes near their homes. We chose the Princeton Theological Seminary as an ideal location as it’s educational mission complements our language and cultural programs.”
The additional Princeton campus will offer weekly pre-K through 12th grade classes and foster ‘Weltoffenheit’ – an openness to the world, which prepares students for their role as global citizens. Classes will be held Saturdays from 10:00 am to 12:00 p.m. The School will also offer its popular, 45-minute Mini-Mäuse music and movement program for babies, toddlers and their caregivers.
