Here Are The Upcoming COVID Vaccine Clinics In Princeton

The Princeton Health Department will be hosting COVID-19 vaccine clinics during the summer.

PRINCETON, NJ — The COVID-19 positivity rate in New Jersey has quadrupled from last month, according to state health officials.

The rise in cases is mainly due to the prevalence of the delta variant, first seen in India and first detected in the United States in March. This mutation of the virus spreads 50 percent faster than the alpha variant first seen in Great Britain, according to Yale Medicine.

Princeton has a number of COVID-19 vaccine clinics scheduled. Here's where you can go to get one:

  • July 29: Mt Pisgah AME Church, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • August 5: Princeton United Methodist Church, p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • August 27: Hinds Plaza, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

As of July 19, 76 percent of Princeton residents aged 12 and above have been vaccinated. The vaccination rate for those 18 years and over is 75 percent and seniors (65 and over) account for 94 percent, according to data from health officials.

The township is continuing with its efforts to combat the virus. Apart from scheduling public vaccination clinics, the Princeton Health Department has launched a Mobile Vaccination Program to bring the COVID-19 vaccine to people in a convenient way. Businesses, community organizations, and places of worship can host health department staff on location for a vaccine drive. Governor Phil Murphy recently "begged" unvaccinated Garden State residents to get a shot of the COVID-19 vaccine to help halt the spread of the virus. "I'm begging you, please, get vaccinated," Murphy said at Monday's COVID-19 briefing.

Meanwhile, New Jersey has among the highest vaccination rates in the country. As of Tuesday, 5,083,333 New Jersey residents were fully vaccinated. But the infection rate is up to 3.84 percent.
