Here’s When You Will Receive The COVID Vaccine In Princeton

PRINCETON, NJ — Mercer County held its first COVID-19 vaccination clinic in Hamilton on Monday. The county also began distributing the Moderna vaccine to municipalities across the county.

The Princeton Health Department in collaboration with the Mercer County Health Officers Association (MCHOA) began vaccinating local EMS workers and community health care workers this week.

The township is vaccinating people based on prioritized groups defined by CDC. The health department released a list of tentative dates for vaccination. These vaccine clinics will be by appointment only and subject to availability.

Here’s when you will receive the COVID-19 vaccine, based on priority group.

1A Healthcare Professionals
(now-February)
The 1A group includes healthcare workers at hospitals, long term care centers, veteran’s homes, ambulatory and urgent care clinics, dialysis centers, dental offices, morticians and funeral homes, pharmacies, psychiatric hospitals, correctional facilities and group homes. Also included in the group are non-hospital healthcare facility workers and public health workers. If you fall directly within this category, the township is asking you to contact the Princeton health Department at healthdepartment@princetonnj.gov. The township is also asking medical practices to sign up as a group to ease administrative burden on the department.

1B first responders and seniors 75 and above
(End of January – Early February)
The next priority group to be vaccinated will be seniors aged 75 and older, and frontline essential workers including police, firefighters, first responders, food service workers, teachers, school staff, childcare workers, public transit employees, news and media services workers, and other essential and critical workers.

1C people at high risk of contracting COVID-19
(End of February – May)
Group 1C includes people over 65, and those of all ages who have underlying conditions that put them at high risk of COVID-19 (e.g., hypertension, obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic lung disease, cancer, chronic kidney disease, immuno-compromised). This group also includes people living or working in overcrowded settings including migrant workers and those at colleges and universities.

Phase II - General population
(Based on availability, starts end of May)
The general population will hopefully start getting vaccinated at the end of May, depending on the availability of the vaccine. Princeton health Department and municipality will inform the public of dates, times, and locations of clinics through social media platforms, including the mayor’s newsletters, when available.
